The Russian operator TransContainer plans to increase the processing capacity of container terminals by more than 1 million TEU by 2026. This was announced by the president of the company Vitaly Evdokimenko.
“The company has already begun implementing a project to build a new terminal in the Moscow transport hub with a processing capacity at the first stage of more than 400 thousand TEU with the possibility of further increasing it by 600 thousand TEU,” Mr. Evdokimenko told reporters at the Eastern Economic Forum ( quote from “Interfax”).
By 2026, the company expects to build a container terminal in Kemerovo for 150 thousand TEU. Terminal capacity will exceed 1 million TEU after the implementation of major investment projects.
Vitaly Evdokimenko said the day before that TransContainer plans to appeal to the government with a request to reconsider the ban on extending the service life of rolling stock, introduced in 2016. The reason is a reduction in the production of cars and a sharp rise in prices for them.
The Ministry of Transport is ready to consider relaxations – to expand the list of types of cars that can have their service life extended with modernization or even without it, provided that they are in good technical condition.
