Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Marat Khusnullin said that traffic on the second railway track of the Crimean bridge is open. As the Deputy Prime Minister noted, in order to open the message ahead of schedule, the specialists worked in two shifts and around the clock.
“The builders have accomplished a real feat by restoring this important facility. Thanks to their selfless work, in February, a month and a half ahead of schedule, the automobile part of the bridge was fully opened. Now we have launched traffic on the second track of the railway part – and also ahead of schedule, ”he wrote in his Telegram channel. According to him, the builders replaced two superstructures, working around the clock in two shifts.
On October 8, a truck was blown up on the Crimean bridge, after which the tanks of a freight train caught fire and two spans of the automobile part of the bridge collapsed. The ICR opened a criminal case under the article “Terrorism”. The traffic on the bridge was restricted. In early March, the first span of the railway part of the bridge was installed.
Before the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine, Crimea was one of the most popular destinations for Russian tourists. In 2021, it accounted for 49% of total bookings, before the pandemic in 2019 – 41%. In 2022, this figure dropped to 6%, falling to the third place in terms of popularity of destinations. According to Ostrovok.ru, in 2023 the region dropped to ninth place, forming only 2% of bookings in Russia.
