Nintendo wants to reduce its presence in Russia

The Japanese company that develops game consoles Nintendo plans to minimize its presence in Russia. This is stated in the reporting of the Russian “daughter” of the developer.
“[Дочерняя] the organization plans that the minimum activity regime will be in effect until at least the end of 2025, including due to the company’s obligations to buyers for warranty service and repair of goods, ”the message says (quote according to TASS).
Nintendo RU is going to prepare to reduce its presence on the market by the end of the first half of 2023 – it is planned to reduce staff, fulfill obligations to suppliers and customers and terminate agreements with them.
Nintendo stopped deliveries of its products to Russia in March 2022, after the start of the military operation in Ukraine. At the same time, the Japanese company turned off its Nintendo eShop digital store in the Russian Federation, while the company did not announce its official withdrawal from the Russian market.
The suspension of the import of its products in the company was explained by problems due to the imposed Western sanctions, in particular, with payment for goods through an online store.
In April of this year, information appeared in the media about sales of the company’s games under the new brand. On April 9, the Nintendo Switch On Telegram channel posted a photo of a Metroid Prime Remastered game cartridge imported by Achivka, an organization registered in November 2022 at the same address as the Russian division of Nintendo.
It was also claimed that the photo was taken by an employee of the Eldorado hardware store. Then in the press service of M.Video-Eldorado declaredthat the group uses “various legally permitted mechanics to develop the game assortment”.
