Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited canceled Monday’s trading session, including over-the-counter trading, due to approaching Typhoon Talim. Clearing and settlement services for securities will also not be provided throughout the day.
The rules of the exchange provide for the cancellation of trading in the event that meteorological services announce the approach of a typhoon. The Hong Kong Observatory issued such a notice this morning, warning that the eighth level of danger will remain on the island until about 16:20 local time (11:20 ISS). This level means that wind gusts can reach 63 km/h. The entire trading session on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange is canceled if the danger persists at this level until at least noon.
