Toyota Motor Corp. published its production, sales and export indicators for September and the first half of the 2024 financial year (April-September 2023).
As noted in the report, the company managed to overcome the shortage of microchips that arose in the global market at the end of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and persisted until 2023. As a result, Toyota managed to increase production volume in the first half of the financial year by 10.1% compared to 2022. It reached a record 5.74 million vehicles produced. The reporting also takes into account data from Toyota subsidiaries – Daihatsu Motor and Hino Motors.
Sales for the first half of the year increased by 8.3% and reached 5.596 million vehicles. This is also the best figure in Toyota’s history. At the same time, in China, the largest market for the Japanese concern, its sales were at the same level as in 2022. The company sold about 1 million cars here in the first half of the 2024 financial year. In Japan, the company’s sales increased by a third, to 790.2 thousand cars. In Europe as a whole, Toyota Motor sales increased by 7%, but the dynamics in large European markets turned out to be mixed. Thus, in Spain and France, growth was recorded in the region of 2–2.4%; in Germany and Italy, sales, on the contrary, decreased slightly (by 2% and 1.2%, respectively), and in Britain they jumped by 16.7 %.
In Russia, Toyota sold 214 cars over the reporting six months. For comparison, for the period from April to September 2022, sales of the Japanese concern here amounted to about 2.5 thousand. And for the entire last year, the company sold about 22 thousand cars in the Russian Federation. Toyota suspended production in the Russian Federation in March 2022 and later sold its factories. At the same time, the company retained after-sales customer service.
