Russian tourists have begun to choose tours to Asia more often. According to travel planning service OneTwoTrip, demand in the Philippines has quadrupled compared to the summer season. As market players note, holidays on the islands were more expensive before the pandemic, but now prices in Southeast Asian countries have leveled off, which has spurred demand.

Travel agents predict strong interest in tours to the Philippines not only during the high season, but also in winter.

This, in particular, is facilitated by convenient connecting flights, says Maya Kotlyar, head of the individual tourism company Mayel Travel:

“The Philippines has caught up with other destinations in terms of prices and has become even cheaper than Vietnam. 170-180 thousand is a week-long tour for two with flights and a four-star hotel. The Philippines is a very interesting destination. There is also an island holiday, and there is something to see: Cebu is the former capital of the archipelago; on the island of Bohol you can go diving, visit the so-called chocolate hills, watch dolphins, and if you’re lucky, even watch whales during migration.

And the beaches of Boracay Island are among the top five in the world. Plus, Russia and the Philippines are conducting very active negotiations regarding the launch of direct Aeroflot flights to Cebu. And this will be a very good help in expanding the range of countries.”

According to the online hotel booking service Ostrovok.ru, demand for Asian countries has almost tripled compared to last year. The share of this direction in the volume of bookings also doubled – to 7%. At the same time, by the end of the year, tours will increase in price, expects the general director of the Pink Elephant travel agency network, Alexan Mkrtchyan:

“The best seller is Thailand. Unlike Vietnam, South Korea, and Indonesia, this country is the only one in Southeast Asia that receives direct flights from Russia. The second most popular destination is Sri Lanka. Here for Russians there are very good all-inclusive prices – something that is not available in Thailand. Plus the gentle Indian Ocean, and the opportunity to go on vacation for 10 days for some 200-300 thousand rubles. I’m talking about the flight from Moscow.

At the same time, prices will change when Chinese tourists return; they have not been there for three years. And Chinese citizens have become richer; if previously they were willing to pay $100 for a room, now they are willing to pay $200 or more. Accordingly, hoteliers throughout Southeast Asia, not just Thailand, are sharply raising prices for Russians. In September you can go to Thailand for 150 thousand for a week, with a flight for two, with accommodation, with insurance, with breakfast, even with one excursion. The same tour from October will cost 220-240 thousand rubles, and on New Year’s Eve – all 300 thousand. That is, we are expecting at least a 100 percent increase in price compared to what we have now.”

Demand for other areas that are relevant during the cold season is gradually growing. According to a study by OneTwoTrip, holidays in South Africa have tripled in popularity. In addition, interest in tours to Cuba and China is increasing. Hungary stands out among European countries; the demand for trips there this fall has also increased.
