Tourist flow from Russia to Turkey increased by almost 45% in eight months - Kommersant



Based on the results of January-August, foreign tourist flows to Turkey increased by 14% compared to the same period in 2022. The country was visited by 36.7 million people, according to data from the Turkish Ministry of Tourism. Russia took first place in the number of tourists coming to Turkey. Over eight months, 4.35 million Russians visited Turkey, which is 44.8% more than last year.

According to statistics provided by the portal T24, Germany is in second place in the number of tourists coming to Turkey, from where 4.08 million travelers came (+6% relative to January-August 2022). Third place was taken by Great Britain with 2.65 million tourists (+12.36%). The top five also included Bulgaria and Iran.

Over the past month, foreign tourist flows to Turkey amounted to 6.66 million; the figures for August this year were 5.65% higher than the results for the same month in 2022. The leader among foreign tourists in the last month of summer was Germany, from where 871.27 thousand tourists came (+1.5% compared to August 2022). In second place is Russia (852.6 thousand, +5.68%). The UK closes the top three (588 thousand, +6.9%).
