The world’s largest travel operator TUI Group has reported a profit for the first time since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the results of the third quarter of the financial year 2023 (April 1 – June 30), profit before taxes amounted to € 169.4 million, follows from reporting operator. For the year, this figure rose by €196.5 million. Revenue rose by 19% to €5.3 billion, which is better than analysts’ expectations, whose average forecast was €5 billion.

In addition, despite the increase in service prices by 7% compared to last year, the number of bookings for the summer season also increased by 6%. Moreover, summer bookings were only 5% lower than in 2019, with prices rising 26% over the years.

Finally, TUI said it would compensate those tourists who were affected by natural disasters this year. According to the operator, about 8 thousand tourists were forced to leave their hotels due to fires on the Greek island of Rhodes. According to TUI estimates, the payment of compensation will cost the operator about €25 million.
