With the participation of the Bank of Russia, a bill was developed that provides for the suspension of top managers of banks from work for 10 years for repeated data leaks. They write about it “News” with a link to the document.

The Central Bank clarified that the bill is undergoing interdepartmental approval. It is proposed to introduce it to prevent information leaks.

As Izvestia writes, the proposal provides for increased personal liability of the deputy head of the bank for violations of information protection requirements that led to the leakage of customer data or bank secrecy. The bill also applies to insurance companies, pension funds and microfinance organizations.

The National Financial Market Council wrote in its response to the bill that a 10-year suspension is not comparable in severity to penalties for more serious violations. In addition, they said that people in other positions may be to blame for the data leak. They also believe that the measure could worsen the already difficult situation with the shortage of specialists – a person left without work for a long time risks losing his professional skills.

In the fall of 2023, as Kommersant learned, personal data on 60 million credit data of Sberbank clients ended up on the black market. Then Roskomnadzor confirmed leak of the MTS Bank cardholder database.
