there are no signs of increased tritium levels after the release of water from Fukushima – Kommersant

The risks of increasing tritium levels in Russian waters after the start of water discharge from the Japanese Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant theoretically exist, said Sergei Ivanov, special presidential representative for environmental issues, ecology and transport. However, there are no signs of this yet.
“There are theoretical concerns, but no practical ones yet. There are no signs that the level of tritium has increased in Russian hot waters,” Mr. Ivanov told reporters (quoted by “Interfax”).
Japanese company Tokyo Electric Power started resetting water purified from radioactive substances from a nuclear power plant into the ocean on August 24. The decision was approved by the IAEA, but it still caused protests in Japan, including in the fishing industry. China opposed the release of water. Beijing has banned the import of Japanese fish and seafood.
