Theranos founder Holmes sentenced to 11 years in prison

Theranos startup founder Elizabeth Holmes was sentenced by a federal court in San Jose, California to 135 months in prison (11.2 years) for defrauding investors. It will also be obliged to compensate investors for damages, estimated by the court at $121 million.
As transmits FOX Business, restitution hearings will be scheduled at a later date. Initially, Elizabeth Holmes was charged on 11 counts: on four of them she was acquitted, on three the jury failed to reach a verdict.
Theranos founder was recognized guilty of defrauding investors back in January of this year. Elizabeth Holmes is the youngest female self-made billionaire, estimated by Forbes in 2014 at $4.5 billion.
Theranos’ main product, which attracted large investments in the company, was a compact blood analyzer – but it never went on sale. Later, the US authorities qualified the startup as fraudulent, and Theranos ceased to exist.
