By the end of 2023, 20% more electronics will be produced in Russia compared to last year. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko in a video message to the participants of the Russian forum “Microelectronics 2023”, which takes place from October 9 to 14 at Sirius.
“Last year, electronics production in Russia grew by 15%; this year we expect an increase of more than 20%. Anchor projects are being implemented to create advanced technological equipment for the production of semiconductors, and new production sites are being built,” Chernyshenko noted.
According to him, thanks to the transformation of trading companies into commercial and industrial holdings, the volume of private investment in the development and production of electronics has increased exponentially. In this regard, achieving the goal of dominating Russian producers in the domestic market is possible, Chernyshenko added. He added that “domestic microelectronics should take a leading position both within the country and abroad in the foreseeable future.”
Last year at this forum the Ministry of Industry and Trade presented key industry issues to be addressed. In particular, among them are low investment attractiveness, high dependence of the design and production processes on foreign technologies, the inability to provide the market with the necessary electronics, the high cost of producing components in Russia, etc.
