The US Congress sent a request to Elon Musk due to violations of Brazilian laws

Elon Musk said on his X account that he received a request from the US Congress in connection with his company’s violations of Brazilian laws.

“X has just received an inquiry from the US House of Representatives regarding the company’s activities in Brazil that violate Brazilian law,” the head of X Corp said in a statement.

Last weekend, Elon Musk entered into an open conflict with the Brazilian authorities, with Chief Justice Alesendre de Morais in particular. Mr. Musk said that his social network had previously received court orders to block a number of accounts in Brazil. “There were hundreds, if not thousands,” said Elon Musk today, April 11.

On April 6, the American businessman said that he was not going to comply with these court demands, as he believed that they violated freedom of speech in Brazil, and all accounts blocked by court order would be restored.

Immediately after this, the Supreme Court began an investigation into Elon Musk, accusing him of aiding the spread of disinformation and inciting hatred in Brazil. Judge de Morais also noted that X will pay 100 thousand reais per day ($19.7 thousand) for disobedience to the court order.
