The research and production corporation United Carriage Company (UWC) announced the appointment of Irina Olkhovskaya as its new general director. Since October 2023, this post has been held by Sergei Limarenko. Mrs. Olkhovskaya will officially take office tomorrow, February 1st.
Commenting on her appointment, Irina Olkhovskaya noted that UWC intends to increase production volumes and continue the development of scientific and technical potential. “We will pay great attention to professional growth and social support for the company’s employees at all levels. It is thanks to them that the holding maintains its status as the largest manufacturer of wagons in the 1520 area,” Ms. Olkhovskaya is quoted as saying in press release on the corporation’s website.
Before her appointment as CEO, Irina Olkhovskaya was a member of the UWC board of directors and first deputy to Sergei Limarenko, who then headed the corporation. Previously, Ms. Olkhovskaya worked as director of port and railway projects at the Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company.
United Carriage Company is Russia’s largest manufacturer of freight cars. The corporation’s product line includes over 70 models of new generation cars. In December 2023, the bank of non-core assets “Trust” passed on a controlling stake in UWC (93.6%) to a specialized investor. The bank did not name the buyer of UWC “due to considerations of the importance of this transaction for the state.”
