The UK government launched a program to develop the national semiconductor industry

Today the British government reported on the launch of the National Strategy for the Development of the Semiconductor Industry, which has so far received £1 billion of public investment. As part of this strategy, the British government will encourage UK companies to research into semiconductors and develop local manufacturing.

It is also reported that Prime Minister Rishi Sunak at the current G7 summit in Japan will meet with representatives of governments of several countries and technology companies. During the negotiations, cooperation with British companies will be discussed.

It is reported that for scientific research in the field of semiconductors, the British authorities will actively attract specialists from leading British universities – Cambridge, Cardiff, Manchester, Edinburgh, etc. £ 540 million has been allocated for research grants alone. More than £ 200 million will go to support British startups, small and medium-sized businesses involved in the development and production of semiconductors, their components and architecture.
