The Dutch company Yandex NV wants to buy out for 600 billion rubles

Board of directors of the company Yandex NV, registered in the Netherlands, is discussing the possibility of a buyout of the company by entrepreneurs Vladimir Potanin and Vagit Alekperov. About it writes Bloomberg, citing its sources.

Applications are directed to the acquisition of a controlling stake in Yandex (51%). The amount is estimated at 560-600 billion rubles. It takes into account a 50% discount, without which foreign companies cannot leave the Russian market – such a requirement was set by the Ministry of Finance in December 2022 for unfriendly countries, including the Netherlands. The Board of Directors can discuss these applications from May 22 during a meeting in Dubai.

If “Yandex“Potanin will buy out, the former owner of the Chelsea football club Roman Abramovich can join him, VTB and billionaire Alexei Mordashov. Abramovich’s press office said he was not in talks to buy any shares.

Representatives of Yandex, Potanin and Alekperov declined to comment to Bloomberg. The Kremlin will have to confirm the deal, since the decision of the board of directors will be considered only as a recommendation for the transfer of assets.
