The sports association is developing its offer. It expects to break even in 2023, after suffering losses in 2020 and 2021.
The UCPA, less known by its full name Union des centers de plein air, is trying to catch its breath after two years of apnea. The sports holiday association lost 210 million euros in cumulative turnover in 2020 and 2021. Despite the 18 million euros in public aid received in the context of Covid-19, the organization – which offers activities as diverse as hiking, skiing, horse riding, paragliding or diving – suffered a cumulative operating loss of 50 million euros over these two years.
The pandemic continues to weigh on activity. “This winter, the British could not come to ski in France. Some destinations such as Asia remain closed and school trip programs are only gradually resuming. Despite good attendance this summer, the delay cannot be made up for this year., says the general manager, Guillaume Legaut. The UCPA carries out 10% of its activity outside our borders.
