The Turkish state bank Ziraat sent out a request to Russian clients to provide a current TIN number. Receiving a similar request “RIA News” confirmed several Russian clients of Ziraat. If the client has already notified the bank about the current TIN number, he does not need to take any action.
“Dear client, you previously told the bank that you are a tax resident of a country other than Turkey. You must fully indicate the tax number of the country in which you reside through our mobile application, website or by contacting our branches,” the bank said in a statement.
February 16, one of the largest Turkish banks Denizbank sent out letters to clients from Russia requesting documents confirming their right to reside in Turkey. In the bank assuredthat this is due to internal procedures and not to US sanctions policy.
