The deal on the sale of the former plant of the German automobile concern Volkswagen (VW) in Kaluga to the Avilon dealer has been approved by the government commission, now a partner is being sought to resume production, most likely, these will be companies from Southeast Asia. This was reported to TASS by the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov.

“Yes, the government commission has already approved the sale of the Volkswagen plant to the Avilon dealer. Now its registration is being completed,” said Mr. Manturov. “But the technology partner for the speedy resumption of production at this plant is still in the process. That is, there is a preliminary understanding, but there are some forks,” he explained. According to the minister, we are talking about the southeastern partners.

VW suspended production at its plants in Kaluga and Nizhny Novgorod in March 2022. A year later, the Arbitration Court of the Nizhny Novgorod Region arrested the group’s assets in Russia at the suit of GAZ, which demanded to recover more than 15.5 billion rubles from VW. Sources of “b” then spokethat, despite the claims of GAZ against VW, Avilon did not slow down the approval of the deal. In April, the court lifted restrictions from the assets of the automaker in the Russian Federation.
