The former chairman of the board of Rosbank, Ilya Polyakov, took over as deputy director of the global banking division of the Societe Generale group, informs Interfax.
Rosbank until the spring of 2022, it belonged to the French group Societe Generale, but due to sanctions and a special operation, a foreign company sold its financial business in Russia to Vladimir Potanin’s Interros, which, in addition to Rosbank, included Rosbank Insurance. Interros already owned the bank before being sold to the French in the 2000s. After the spring deal, the bank announced a rebranding, retaining the name.
In an interview with Vedomosti, Polyakov said that Societe Generale would be the preferred partner of the bank after the deal. “Rosbank retained quite a few ties with the French group Societe Generale. The new owner expressed interest in the bank maintaining a balanced risk policy and strict compliance procedures, a transparent management system, and a democratic corporate culture,” Polyakov specified.
Polyakov worked in the bank for 10 years. In 2018, he took over as chairman of a credit institution, which he left in October 2022. His place was taken by Natalya Voevodina, who previously was deputy chairman and oversaw management and development of operations.
February 2023 Rosbank was included in the EU sanctions list. Rosbank is one of the few large banks sanctioned that disclosed its IFRS financials for 2022, although the Central Bank allowed not to do so. The net profit of the credit institution amounted to 4.9 billion rubles. It decreased by 75% compared to 2021 (19.6 billion rubles).
