The total wealth of the richest Russian businessmen in the first two months of 2024 increased by $11.084 billion, according to RIA Novosti calculations based on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index rating. The maximum growth relative to all participants in the rating was demonstrated by the former beneficiary of the Eurochem and SUEK companies Andrey Melnichenko. His fortune increased by $3.86 billion in January-February, to $22.7 billion.
The Bloomberg Billionaires Index is calculated based on the stock prices of companies in which billionaires own stakes. For some companies, the calculation is based on the ratio of their capitalization to EBITDA or share price to earnings per share. In total, the ranking includes the 500 richest people in the world. It now includes 26 Russian citizens, whose total wealth is estimated at $345.11 billion.
Despite the significant growth in fortune Andrey Melnichenko, who ranks sixth in the ranking, the richest Russian entrepreneur remains one of the main owners of Norilsk Nickel Vladimir Potanin. At the same time, since the beginning of the year, Mr. Potanin’s fortune has decreased by $37.1 million, to $31 billion. In second place is the co-owner of NOVATEK Leonid Mikhelson, whose fortune also decreased – by $710 million, to $26.8 billion. The third place in the rating is occupied by the co-owner of LUKOIL Vagit Alekperov. His capital increased by $1.51 billion, to $26.2 billion.
In fourth place is the beneficiary of NLMK Vladimir Lisin, who increased his fortune by $1.49 billion, to $25.4 billion, in fifth place – the main beneficiary of the Severstal company Alexey Mordashov, whose fortune increased by $2.08 billion, to $23 billion. The founder of the USM holding took seventh place Alisher Usmanova, whose capital in January-February decreased by $875 million, to $20.2 billion.
Takes eighth place Mikhail Prokhorov (“Onexim”), his fortune increased by $692 million, to $16.4 billion. Ninth is the co-owner of NOVATEK and Sibur, Gennady Timchenko, whose fortune again decreased the most on the list – by $1 billion, to $13.2 billion.
