The first trips under the group visa-free tourist exchange between Russia and India may begin in the third quarter of 2024. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Economic Development Dmitry Vakhrukov.

“We hope that in the first quarter we will receive consent from our Indian colleagues. As always in international affairs, it will take some time before the paperwork is completed. Therefore, let’s be optimistic for the third quarter that the first tourists from India will go to Russia as part of group visa-free trips and we will be able to visit them without visas,” the deputy minister said in an interview at the “Russia” exhibition and forum (quoted by TASS).

In February, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov reported that Russia intends to introduce a visa-free regime with 11 countries. In August, it became known about the launch of a group visa-free tourist exchange with India. In the same month, visa-free exchanges of tourist groups between Russia and China were allowed. Groups of 5 to 50 people, organized by tour operators, can travel around China without visas for 15 days.
