The Times: Britain continues to buy Russian oil
[ad_1]
British importers continue to buy Russian oil, despite reports from the authorities about the lack of supplies, said The Sunday Times. According to the publication, the import was qualified as European, as the oil was reloaded from one ship to another in Greece, Germany, the Netherlands or other countries.
In total, since March, the UK has received £778 million worth of Russian oil. Over the same period, 39 tankers with energy carriers from the Russian Federation worth more than £200 million arrived in the country – these deliveries were qualified as European. Deliveries in July and June were estimated at £80m, but official records indicate that London did not buy oil from Moscow.
The import of Russian oil will be banned in the UK from 5 December. Up to this point, we are talking only about “reputational risk”, notes The Sunday Times. The scheme for reloading oil in European ports does not violate maritime law, since companies must indicate the country of shipment of the energy carrier, and not the manufacturer.
