The ban on foreign carriers in the Russian Federation deprives the express delivery market of competition

The ban on the entry of foreign road carriers into Russia, introduced in October, significantly complicated the express delivery of orders from abroad for domestic logisticians. This was reported to Vedomosti by SDEK, confirmed by Sota Logistic and sources in three more transport companies.

To deliver goods to Russia from EU countries, domestic logisticians hire low-tonnage (up to 3.5 tons) trucks from European transport companies. Despite the imposed sanctions, the Russian authorities allowed foreign carriers to bring goods into the country. But on October 10, a government decree came into force, according to which road carriers from the European Union, Great Britain, Northern Ireland, Norway and Ukraine cannot enter the territory of the Russian Federation – before the border they need to reload goods onto Russian cars. Restrictions do not apply only to the Kaliningrad region.
