The State Duma plans to consider a bill that will oblige retail chains and stores to indicate the cost per unit of measurement of goods, in the autumn session. The newspaper reported “News” with reference to the document and the State Duma Committee on Industry and Trade.
The legal department of the State Duma issued a positive response to the bill. The document is recommended for consideration. It can be adopted in the first reading in October.
“It will be easier for people to choose one brand or another based on price-quality considerations. Conventionally, two packages of milk cost the same, but one contains exactly a liter, and the other 950 ml. So the second brand is more expensive. But at first glance, this is not obvious, ”Kaplan Panesh, deputy chairman of the committee on budget and taxes, told Izvestia.
The author of the bill and Vice Speaker of the State Duma Boris Chernyshov said that after the adoption of the bill, administrative liability will be introduced for violation of the requirement. He did not give what punishment would be threatened for this.
