The State Duma proposed banning the sale of energy drinks to children throughout Russia

State Duma deputy Sultan Khamzaev proposed resuming discussion of a ban on energy drinks for minors at the federal level. He promised to raise this issue at the autumn session of the State Duma.
“This fall session I will raise the issue of banning energy drinks for minors. One of the bills has already been introduced earlier. I believe that it is necessary to revive the work in this direction, which was started at the beginning of this year. There can be no secondary issues in protecting the health of children,” the deputy told RIA Novosti.
Currently, a ban on the sale of energy drinks to persons under 18 years of age is in effect in more than 20 regions of Russia, including St. Petersburg and Kazan. According to the deputy, such measures should be taken at the federal level.
A bill banning the sale of energy drinks to persons under 18 years of age was introduced to the State Duma in January of this year. The sale of energy drinks containing alcohol has been prohibited since January 2018.
