The Chairman of the State Duma Commission on Combating Foreign Intervention Vasily Piskarev suggested that the Ministry of Justice check the writer Boris Akunin (real name Grigory Chkhartishvili). The deputies believe that “there are grounds for including Chkhartishvili in the register of foreign agents.” This is stated in the message of the commission in Telegram.

Boris Akunin is a writer, Japanese scholar and translator. Since 2014 he has lived in London. Among his most famous works are the series “The Adventures of Erast Fandorin” and the cycle “History of the Russian State”. According to the Liters service, in 2022 Boris Akunin became the most popular author by revenue in Russia.
