The Moscow Provincial Theater (MGT) has canceled the spring and autumn seasons of the play “The Adventures of Fandorin” based on the novel by Boris Akunin (real name Grigory Chkhartishvili). The Russian Academic Youth Theater (RAMT), which also hosts performances based on the works of Mr. Akunin, reported that it was working on the legal aspects after the author was included in the register of terrorists and extremists.
“The theater is working on the legal side of the issue. Just an hour ago, the author’s status was updated, and this requires study from a legal point of view,” reports TASS words from the RAMT press service representative.
In turn, MGT canceled all showings of the play “The Adventure of Fandorin”. The production was a joint project of the theater with the Sergei Bezrukov Foundation. The premiere took place in 2017.
