The reboot of “Daddy’s Daughters” was accompanied by serious excitement even at the start of filming, and after the broadcast, passions began to boil with renewed vigor. It is noteworthy that the expectations of both fans and those to whom the idea of reviving the project seemed a failure were fully justified.
In the new episodes there are different daughters, but the same problems. The matured Venik is left with four children after his wife ran away on their fifteenth wedding anniversary. The persona of the insidious wife is a separate reason for fan indignation.
In previous seasons, Dasha Vasnetsova, as a gothic diva, provided the series with a kind of informal nerve. And so she first becomes a boring philistine, and then an irresponsible wife. A hint of the femme agenda lies in the unfulfillment and dramatic burnout of the mother of four children, exhausted by everyday life and social circles, as well as the characterization of the father as having traded his children for a workaholic career. No more complicated psychoanalysis. There is a single father and daughters with whom you will not get bored.
Armchair critics immediately complained that a plot similar to the old “Daddy’s Daughters” could have come to the minds of screenwriters who lacked even a hint of imagination. Not everyone was pleased with the appearance of old characters in the new series. The advertisement promised almost all the previous heroes, but in reality many of them are only rare guests, who, moreover, do not always please. The tediousness of young Galina Sergeevna was very cute at one time, but now the heroine of Elizaveta Arzamasova, as haters note, is “a terrible, stuffy aunt.” Adults Masha and Zhenya also arouse the audience’s enthusiasm every now and then.
Meanwhile, the nostalgic flair still works. For millions of people, “Daddy’s Daughters” remained one of the symbols of the cloudless childhood of the 2000s, and now, when the cloudlessness has been replaced by lead clouds, the smiles of even the grown-up heroes are perceived as rays of goodness. The rest of “Daddy’s Daughters. New” is a completely different series.
Perhaps there was a point in the detailed restoration of the spirit of sitcoms with off-screen laughter and action taking place in approximately the same scenery. But the creators of the new series decided to shoot in a more modern manner. The public was left the right to laugh where it sees fit, different locations flash in the frame, and the series itself is no longer endless chewing gum, but a project designed within the framework of current television formats.
The plot and dialogue of the new “daughters”, of course, cannot be compared with the way it is now customary to joke and just talk on streaming. In this regard, the series seems to be suspended in a vacuum, but it is precisely this purity (sometimes it seems that nothing worse than hate on social networks can happen to the characters) promises to become one of the attractive aspects for the old army of fans of the adventures of Venik and Co.
By the way, about Venik. Unlike his colleagues in the old “daughters”, Philip Bledny serves as one of the locomotives of the action and looks quite good in this status. It is quite obvious that the role of a good-natured lout who, for some paradoxical reason, has pumped up his biceps, suits Philip much better than the images of guys in camouflage and with weapons, in which the actor sometimes played after “Daddy’s Daughters” closed.
There are also noisy debates about the actresses who played the new daughters. Comparisons with Button, of course, are not the kindest, but even ruthless critics admit that it is not very right to scold young actresses for the images that were invented for them, predictable to the point of amazement. Of course, they are in the shadow of the previous characters and are not at all to blame for this.
Those who did all the behind-the-scenes work also have nothing to blame themselves for, especially in the context of the fact that the newly launched series will have a second season. The aired episodes of the first one in all respects resemble an average TV comedy. They are not annoying, sometimes they are touching, but for the sake of them they are unlikely to skip classes or neglect homework, as they once did.
