Investigations, scandals with his wife and the woman of dreams
In the third season, the main characters of the project will not only investigate complex crimes, but also try to unravel difficult personal relationships. MK found out the details of the filming of the popular series.
Senior investigator for particularly important cases, Colonel of Justice Yuri Bragin (Ivan Kolesnikov), is again busy on duty seven days a week. His friend and colleague, criminal investigator Mikhail Shibanov (Sergei Zharkov), also does not complain about the lack of work. However, in the new season, not all of the problems of the guards of law and order will be related to the search for villains. Vera Bragina (Elena Vozhakina), the wife of the hero Ivan Kolesnikov, unexpectedly decides to resign as a judge and takes the bar exam. The husband, in slight bewilderment, tries to understand his wife, who now protects scammers and murderers. Shibanov, meanwhile, has found the woman of his dreams and, for her sake, is even thinking about changing his dangerous job to something calmer.
“Over the three seasons of the series, I noticed a certain pattern,” says project director Denis Neimand. “In the first, we had a predominantly detective line in the plot, in the second there was more of a thriller, and the third will become more dramatic, because we will reveal even more deeply the emotional experiences and feelings of our heroes.”
Immersion in the difficult personal relationships of the heroes does not mean, however, that Bragin and Shibanov will be deprived of “communication” with various attackers with all the ensuing consequences. And if the hero of Ivan Kolesnikov, in accordance with his official position, does not very often run after robbers himself, then in the script line of Shibanov’s opera there are still many tricks that actor Sergei Zharkov does himself.
“Sergey is a fearless person, he prefers not to resort to the help of stunt doubles, but to perform his own stunts, so he often gets injured on set,” recalls the series director. — We are so accustomed to his desire to do everything himself that in one of the episodes I suggested that he jump from a bridge. We started filming this scene: all the cameras are charged, the engine is running, he runs up, climbs over the fence and… stops. At the very last moment I changed my mind and did not jump. For many artists such a reaction would be normal, but not for Zharkov. Everyone was amazed. But, I admit, I’m glad that he decided so.”
Most of the third season was traditionally filmed in St. Petersburg, but sometimes the architectural beauty of this famous city was diluted with other locations. During the filming of the second season, the group visited Ulyanovsk, Pskov and Vologda. Some of the new episodes were filmed in Krasnoyarsk. By the way, for some scenes of “First Department” the natural scenery was the corridors and offices of the Investigative Committee. During filming, handshakes from real investigators had already become familiar to Ivan Kolesnikov. “They recognized me, thanked me, and said that they liked the series and our tandem with Seryozha,” noted the actor.
