The Arbitration Court of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region accepted Baltika’s claim against its main shareholder Carlsberg Sverige for damages in the amount of DKK 6.24 billion ($902.8 million). The Russian subsidiary of the shareholder Hoppy Union LLC, Carlsberg Deutschland and Carlsberg Breweries are also listed as defendants.

According to court file, the claim was sent on March 11, but the court initially left it without progress due to the lack of power of attorney documents for one of the Baltika representatives. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 15. As a third party, the court involved the Federal Property Management Agency, under whose temporary management Baltika is located.

In July 2023, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree transferring shares in Baltika to the temporary management of the Federal Property Management Agency. Carlsberg announced the termination of licenses for international and regional brands with Baltika. Baltika responded by filing lawsuits to invalidate the waiver of the agreement for the brands Seth & Riley’s Garage, Holsten, Kronenbourg, Tuborg, Carlsberg and Grimbergen.

Details of the claim are in the Kommersant material. “They billed me for the beer.”.
