The longest animated series in American television history, The Simpsons, has been renewed for two more seasons, seasons 35 and 36. Variety citing a statement from Fox Entertainment’s President of Scripted Programming, Michael Thorne. In addition to The Simpsons, Fox is also looking to renew Family Guy and Bob’s Diner for two seasons, Thorne said.
“With this trio of renewals, we celebrate the excellence of our animation at Fox, our wonderful long-standing partnership with 20th Television, and the brilliant creators and incredible voices behind our favorite animated series,” Thorne said in a statement.
The first season of The Simpsons aired on FOX in 1989. Since then, 34 seasons, or about 750 episodes of the animated series, have been released. Time magazine named The Simpsons the best television series of the 20th century in 1998.
