The building of one of the oldest cinemas in Moscow, Udarnik, which previously belonged to the city, was purchased by OOO GES-2. This follows from the data of the unified state register of real estate (EGRN), which leads RBC. The transaction was carried out at the end of October 2022.
At that time, GES-2 belonged to the co-owner of NOVATEK, Leonid Mikhelson. On January 20, 2023, Leonid Mikhelson transferred control of GES-2 to his daughter Victoria.
The representative of the RBC cinema, Svetlana Maksimchenko, said that in 2023, work will begin on the restoration of Drummer as a festival and premiere cinema. The building is planned to accommodate several cinema halls, a cafe, a bookstore and space for exhibition projects.
“Drummer” was built in 1931. Its capacity is up to 1.5 thousand people. It is part of the architectural complex “Government House”. In 1987, the Udarnik cinema was recognized as an architectural monument and included in the cultural heritage sites. In 2015, the city authorities planned to sell Udarnik, the starting price was set at 559.9 million rubles.
