The share of the largest Russian acquiring banks in the global top 150 in 2022 was 10.2%, an increase of 0.2 percentage points. point less than in 2021. This follows from the Nilson Report, which cites RBC.

The rating takes into account all card payments that were made through a network of bank POS terminals. Among the Russian credit institutions, the top 150 included Sberbank, VTB, Gazprombank, Alfa Bank, Russian Standard, Tinkoff Bank, Promsvyazbank. In total, they processed 47.7 billion transactions. In 2021, the figure was 43.5 billion.

As Nilson Report notes, the main increase in processed payments of Russian banks occurred due to Alfa Bank (+59.4% compared to 2021), Russian Standard (+34%), Sberbank (+11%). They improved their positions and took 81st, 65th and 3rd places out of 150.

Meanwhile, other Russian banks dropped in the rankings. The number of transactions processed by VTB decreased from 2.5 billion to 2.2 billion. It dropped from 38th to 37th place in the ranking. Gazprombank processed just over 1 billion payments in 2022 (approximately equal to the results of 2021), but dropped from 62nd position to 57th. Tinkoff Bank reduced the figure by 25.5%, and Promsvyazbank by 29%. They occupy 78th and 114th place in the ranking.

In the spring of 2022, the international payment systems Visa and Mastercard left Russia. In this regard, their cards issued by Russian banks stopped working abroad, and those issued by foreign banks stopped working in Russia. In the Russian Federation, transactions with Visa and Mastercard go through the National Payment Card System.
