The share of private investors on the Moscow Exchange increased to 18% – Kommersant

To date, the share of private investors in the currency market of the Moscow Exchange has grown to 18%. In 2022, the figure was 12%. Sergei Titov, Director of the Money Market Department of the Moscow Exchange, told reporters about this.
According to Mr. Titov, since the beginning of 2023, the number of corporations on the Moscow Exchange’s foreign exchange market has increased to 43, and clients from the EAEU countries to 35. In the future, the Moscow Exchange plans to attract non-residents as bidders, including those outside the EAEU.
“We want to act as a local center for settlements in national currencies and try to attract participants from these countries to trade these currencies with us. This is bearing fruit, new participants are coming, trading volumes are growing,” said Mr. Titov (quoted by RIA Novosti).
Since the beginning of 2023, the volume of trading in the Kazakh tenge has grown six times, in the Turkish lira – 12 times, in the Armenian dram – 55 times. The volume of trading in the yuan amounted to 43%. Moscow Exchange also continues to work on the possible launch of trading in the Indian rupee and the UAE dirham.
Sergey Titov also pointed to an increase in the volume of trading in the precious metals market – by 3.6 times in seven months of 2023. He explained this by the desire of investors to save their funds by investing them in alternative assets.
How reported Earlier, over the past 12 months, the net inflow of funds from individual investors in bonds on the Moscow Exchange reached 695 billion rubles. (includes net inflows to both the primary and secondary bond markets). Net inflow into shares for the same period amounted to 77 billion rubles.
