The share of foreign pharmaceutical companies in the government procurement market reached 63%

Despite statements by many foreign pharmaceutical companies about a decrease in activity in Russia, their share in the domestic government order market in the first seven months of this year increased by 6.7 percentage points compared to the same period in 2022 to 63.4%. This data is provided by the analytical company DSM Group. According to her, this is the highest figure in at least the last six years (she did not provide earlier data). In monetary terms, it amounts to 294 billion rubles. For comparison: in January – July 2022, the share of foreign companies in the government order segment was 56.7% (313 billion rubles), for the same period in 2021 and 2020. – 57% (259 billion) and 57.6% (205 billion), respectively.

As for specific companies, over the past year, according to DSM Group, deliveries to government medical organizations have increased by Swiss Roche (from 6.03 to 9.94%), American Johnson & Johnson (from 4.24 to 5.91%) , British-Swedish AstraZeneca (from 4.19 to 5.11%). The last two announced last year that they would cease conducting clinical trials and investing in Russia. Roche is also not currently conducting new studies in our country, as follows from the information on its website. Despite this, the companies remained among the top three leaders in the Russian government procurement market. The total volume of contracts concluded with them in the first seven months of 2023 amounted to 97.2 billion rubles. (versus 80 billion and 59 billion in 2022 and 2021).
