In August, 30 thousand foreign tourists visited Russia using an electronic visa, half of them were Chinese citizens, said the head of the Ministry of Economy, Maxim Reshetnikov. According to him, a payment card for foreign guests may be launched this year.
“Since August 1, our e-visa has actually started working. We already have 30 thousand foreign citizens who arrived in August, half are Chinese citizens,” he said at the WEF (quoted from TASS).
A payment card for foreign tourists may be launched in the third or early fourth quarter, Mr. Reshetnikov specified. “We are implementing a tourist card – when you can open an account in our bank while abroad, there will be a virtual card. And upon arrival here, you can either use it virtually or physically receive it,” he recalled.
A single electronic visa to Russia for foreigners was launched in August. It is valid for citizens of 55 countries. This visa gives the right to a single entry for a guest or business visit as a tourist, as well as to participate in various events. Its validity period is 60 days.
In Russia, they are also developing an analogue of the EGAIS for the tourism market – an “Electronic Tour”, which should contain all the information about the implemented tours, their cost and part of the personal data of tourists. Before a new attempt at its full implementation, Prime Group, associated with Rosatom structures, joined in its refinement.
