The series “In short, this is the plan” takes aim at Hollywood

New comedy available on streaming

Compared to most TV comedies this season, “In short, this is the plan” surprises primarily with its scope. So far, only three episodes are available on streaming, and your eyes are already dazzled by the spectacular locations, the reactive pace of the presentation of events and the not entirely serial picture.

The team of hackers has proven itself to be a real threat to exchanges, banks and electronic wallets of dishonest moneybags. However, dizzying successes, as is known, contribute to the emergence of envious people, and among the latter, unexpectedly, are the Russian special services. Cyber-villains are arrested and offered a deal: to answer for everything they have done or to “play” for the good guys. Thus, “saving the world” appears on the resume of the crazy team.

The plot of the series has been well tested in dozens of projects from various countries, and in such a situation it is very important to guess the genre. An adventurous comedy is a hit in the top ten, because just the phrase “there is an offer to work for the country” (it is uttered already in the first minutes) in a serious context can become a death sentence for the series. But the main characters cannot work seriously, so “our service is both dangerous and difficult” turns into an attraction that famously takes place on the territory of “The Agents of U.N.C.L.E.” Guy Ritchie.

The second hit on target has to do with the casting. The casting isn’t exactly full of surprises, but everything is in its place. Nagiyev Jr. evokes associations with a brutal, turbocharged engine, and Kirill has enough energy for all turns. For Sofia Kashtanova, the role of a beautiful schemer is like a custom-made dress, for Igor Korovin in the image of a brilliant scientist – even for a department at any institute, and finally, Nikita Bogatov is very convincing as a child prodigy with criminal inclinations. The main characters had a dream team on their side, including Olesya Sudzilovskaya, Valery Barinov, Pavel Derevianko, Vitaly Khaev and many others.

From the director’s chair, the process was led by Mark Gorobets; his last year’s hit “The Flock,” judging by the responses, left many not indifferent. But if in the drama “The Pack” young delinquents undergo a re-education program in extreme conditions, then in the comedy “In short, this is the plan”, scammers who worked with each other virtually suddenly find themselves face to face, and this is quite an experience. You have to measure your muscles, deal with surging feelings and somehow live with the fact that the quartet was previously led by a teenager.

It’s too early to analyze the series into quotes and declare it one of the main projects of the season. The creators have five more episodes, during which all the intrigues of the beginning should at least not get boring. But already, “In short, this is the plan” clearly does not give the impression of a project locked within the walls of a pavilion and several locations. Each of the available episodes sometimes resembles a travel show, the long shots of which just beg to be shown on the big screen. The main characters actively seek the audience’s sympathy and, perhaps, even succeed in this.
