The Satire Theater will play the premiere of Pygmalion after the fire

Rumors about his death are greatly exaggerated – this phrase today fits the Satire Theater more than ever, which suffered a fire last Sunday. After the fire on the dome of the theater, where renovation work was going on, was extinguished, the theater was predicted to close as a mini-um for several months. The forecasts were not unfounded – as a result of the fire extinguishing, part of the hall was flooded, and accordingly, the light and sound equipment was damaged. In the absence of any official information regarding the damage and the future of “Satire,” the public wondered whether to hand over tickets purchased in advance for the performances or not, but the fact that no one hoped for a miracle is a fact.

However, to the surprise of many, tonight the theater on Sadovo-Triumfalnaya will play the premiere – “Pygmalion” based on the play by Bernard Shaw. The production was carried out by St. Petersburg director Viktor Kramer. And the leading roles will be played by Sergei Chonishvili (Henry Higgins, professor of phonetics),

Let us remind you that exactly a week ago at 11:00 am a fire started in the Satire Theater, as a result of which the Garden Ring was blocked for several hours. The spectators and theater staff who came to the morning performance had to be quickly evacuated, but there were no casualties.
