Expert Voznesensky explained why Alexander Nevsky was “canceled” in Ukraine

“OCU” is preparing to unite with Greek Catholics

The so-called “Orthodox Church of Ukraine” decided to exclude the name of the blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky from the church calendar. The basis for such a step is clear: for a group of schismatics legalized by the Ecumenical Patriarchate and “partially recognized” by individual Local Churches, Nevsky is a Russian figure, and no one will go into detail that from 1249 to 1263 he reigned in Kyiv. But the “abolition” of Alexander Nevsky cannot be reduced to just demonstrative “derussification” and the fight against the “imperial legacy.” Why – expert on religious issues Alexander Voznesensky explained to MK.

“It should be taken into account that the consistent introduction of Russophobia into the religious environment of Ukraine has been going on for quite some time. The customers of this process are known: it is promoted by the State Department and the Patriarchate of Constantinople, which regularly meet with the leaders of the schismatics of the OCU. Also, these ideas are promoted by the Uniates (representatives of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church subordinate to the Pope – B.S.). Both have been instilling hatred of everything Russian for decades,” says our interlocutor.

Voznesensky refers to an interview with UGCC Bishop Boris Gudzyak, who is also a longtime friend of Hillary Clinton, where Gudzyak reports that during the 2014 Maidan, half of the protesters in Kyiv were parishioners of this church:

– A lot of questions arise here: over 80% of Uniates are concentrated in three western regions. How did it happen that half of the protesters turned out to be Greek Catholics? Did the Uniate leadership deliberately bring them from Western Ukraine? Now remember what the most popular “chant” was among Yanukovych’s opponents!

Voznesensky is confident that the “main drivers of Russophobia” in Ukraine remain the Uniates and schismatics, financed by Europe and the United States. And he reminds that almost all of the “Bandera leadership” (leaders of anti-Soviet and/or armed groups that went over to the German side, often punitive) belonged to the UGCC.

For this reason, the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church under the new Ukrainian government is being subjected to repression and is being asked to “revise” the list of saints. First, they demanded that Nicholas II, canonized by the Russian Church, be removed as an honor to the “legacy of tsarism,” and now they have reached Alexander Nevsky.

“Why exactly Saint Alexander Nevsky? Every year, the schismatics of the OCU take step by step towards a unified church with the Uniates. But they just hate him as a person who prevented Catholics from planting their faith in the lands where the Slavs and Baltic peoples lived. Therefore, for the OCU, this is part of the process of unifying the internal system, so that during a future merger between them and the UGCC there will be fewer controversial topics,” summarizes Alexander Voznesensky.
