The Russian Ministry of Finance responded to the statement by the CEO of Carlsberg about “theft of business”

In the Russian Ministry of Finance answered to the statement of the general director of the Danish brewing company Carlsberg Group, Jakob Aarup-Andersen, who accused the Russian authorities of “theft” of the holding’s Russian assets. The department reported that the introduction of temporary management at the Baltika brewing company, part of the Carlsberg Group, does not entail a change in its ownership structure; the company is not state-owned.

“LLC “Baltika Brewing Company” is not owned by the state. The Federal Property Management Agency has been appointed temporary manager, which exercises the powers of the owner with the exception of the powers to dispose of property. Moreover, the introduction of temporary management does not entail a change in the ownership structure,” reported the press service of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation .

Previously Mr Aarup-Andersen statedthat Carlsberg has severed all ties with its Russian business and will not agree to a deal with Moscow that would allow it to “legalize the seizure of assets.”

Carlsberg Group, like many other Western companies, intended to leave the Russian market and sell its Baltika Breweries. At the end of June, Carlsberg Group announced that it had completed the search for an investor for Baltika and signed an agreement with the future owner of the assets. However, on July 16, President Vladimir Putin signed decree on the transfer of shares in Baltika to the temporary management of the Federal Property Management Agency.

October 3 Carlsberg reported, which terminated licensing agreements with the Baltika brewing company. She called the move a response to President Vladimir Putin’s decree calling for the “effective nationalization” of Carlsberg’s Russian assets.
