The Russian government has introduced a temporary ban on the export of waste and scrap precious metals. The restriction will be in effect from November 1, 2023 to April 30, 2024. Previously, such a ban was in effect from March 20 to September 20 of this year.
“The decision will increase the workload of Russian refineries and increase tax revenues. In addition, it will help reduce illegal foreign trade operations related to the export of precious metals,”— reported government press service.
On September 27, the government introduced resolution on a temporary ban on the export of waste and scrap precious metals for six months. According to the draft resolution, the ban does not apply to the export of cathode antimony in ingots. The ban also does not apply to samples taken from shipments of scrap and waste of precious metals, which are exported by organizations authorized to carry out metal refining. In this case, one sample should not exceed a weight of 500 g.
