The Russian armed forces may receive an upgraded 2S25M self-propelled anti-tank gun (SPTP) in 2024. This was reported to TASS in the holding “High-precision complexes” (owned by “Rostec”). They specified that mass production of cars is being prepared.
“At the moment, the design documentation is being adjusted and prepared for presentation to the interdepartmental commission. In parallel with this, preparations are underway for the start of serial production of machines. With the adoption of appropriate decisions by the Russian Ministry of Defense, the supply of vehicles to the armed forces can be started in 2024, ”the company said.
The SPTP is equipped with a 125 mm 2A75-1 gun and is comparable in firepower to the T-90MS tank. The gun armament complex includes armor-piercing sub-caliber, cumulative, high-explosive fragmentation shells, guided missiles, as well as fragmentation munitions with remote detonation. The target engagement range is more than 5 km. A car with a crew of three can reach speeds of up to 70 km / h on land and up to 10 km / h on water. In the first half of 2022, SPTP passed state tests.
