The revocation of the license from Qiwi Bank affected Raiffeisenbank and Tochka Bank – Kommersant

After the license of Qiwi Bank was revoked, the Raiffeisenbank application began experiencing problems when paying for communications and provider services. Tochka’s clients also had problems. The banks associated this with the revocation of the license from Qiwi Bank. Metallinvestbank also announced temporary restrictions on the operation of Qiwi services.

Raiffeisen explained to Kommersant that payments for the services of some companies were made through the services of Qiwi Bank. The bank is now working to restore operations. Tochka reported that the failure affected some of the clients who were serviced at the Qiwi Bank branch. “For such clients, new options and offers will be launched in the near future, including for foreign trade activities,” the bank’s press service clarified.

The bank did not specify what restrictions Tochka’s clients faced. One of the clients who carried out currency transactions through Qiwi Bank said Frank Mediathat no payments or currency exchange are available. As the publication explains, Tochka worked in the format of a multi-bank platform with branches in Otkritie Bank and Qiwi Bank, so some of its clients remained in Qiwi Bank.

In response to a request from Kommersant, the press service explained that clients with accounts in Qiwi Bank cannot transfer money to Tochka. “Due to restrictions from the Central Bank, you cannot withdraw cash from your Qiwi account, make a transfer, exchange currency or pay with a card linked to your Qiwi Bank account. Clients will be able to return their funds, including using DIA mechanisms. We will tell you about the refund a little later – for now we are finding out the information,” the bank explained.

IN press release Metallinvestbank says that due to the revocation of Qiwi Bank’s license today, February 21, “payment for cellular communications, Internet and other services provided through the Qiwi service in the mobile application, online banking and ATMs will be temporarily unavailable.”

In the morning, the Central Bank (CB) announced the revocation of the license from Qiwi Bank. Central Bank assertsthat the bank violated requirements in the field of combating the legalization of proceeds from crime and the financing of terrorism. Against the backdrop of this news, Qiwi receipts at the opening of trading on the Moscow Exchange fell by almost 25%, to 360.5 rubles. Qiwi Bank has already closed offices in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Kazan, as well as blocked operations through Qiwi wallets.
