The revenue of sellers on marketplaces in 2023 grew by an average of 40%

The average revenue of entrepreneurs who sell their goods on marketplaces grew by 39.4% year-on-year in 2023. This was stated in the report on a joint study of Yandex Market and the Tochka Marketplaces service, which is available to Kommersant.

According to the results of the study, the average turnover of Russian sellers in the third quarter of 2023 amounted to 761.9 thousand rubles. per month. For the same period last year it amounted to 546.7 thousand rubles.

“The audience of marketplaces and the volume of sales of goods are expanding due to the development of delivery points and increased competition among marketplaces. This, in turn, results in significant discounts and bonuses for customers and an expansion of available product categories,” said Konstantin Kanivets, a representative of the Tochka Marketplaces service, about the reasons for the growth in revenue.

71% of sellers sell products on only one marketplace, 22% on two at the same time, and 6% on three. The regions with the largest share of sellers on online platforms relative to the total number of entrepreneurs were Kalmykia (34%), Nenets Autonomous Okrug (20.7%) and Mordovia (20.5%).

The most popular product section on marketplaces in the third quarter of 2023 was electronics and household appliances - 36% of total sales. The fastest growing category was “clothing and footwear.”

In 2023, as follows from the Check Index review, the start of November sales did not lead to an increase in demand. Buyer activity in the first days of promotions, on the contrary, decreased by 4–7% year-on-year.
