Russian Digital Development Minister Maksut Shadayev told reporters that the issue of resuming full-fledged work of TikTok in the Russian Federation has not yet been discussed, reports TASS.

In March 2022, after criminal liability for spreading fake news about the Russian army was introduced, TikTok restricted Russian users from downloading and viewing new content, as well as the ability to broadcast live.
Earlier, Forbes, citing representatives of several agencies working with bloggers, reportedthat at the end of 2023, some TikTok users in Russia were able to download and view new content without using circumvention tools. The service did not confirm to the publication that there have been any changes in TikTok’s work in Russia since 2022.
Despite the restrictions, TikTok continues to be one of the most popular applications in Russia. By data Mediascope, as of October 2023, TikTok was in third place among applications in Russia in terms of audience size (67.6 million people). The service is ahead only of VKontakte (89.2 million) and Telegram (82.3 million).
