The Public Chamber (PC) considers it necessary to limit the sale of pharmaceutical liquids containing ethyl alcohol above 30% and intended for oral consumption. To do this, the OP proposed limiting the time of sale of such drugs, similar to alcohol, and also increasing their cost to the level of the minimum price for vodka, reports “Parliamentary newspaper” with reference to the OP’s report.

Pharmacy liquids stronger than 30%, used internally, include hawthorn, Corvalol and Valocordin, as well as rotokan, used for the prevention of periodontitis, stomatitis, and gum inflammation, the newspaper notes. Among other measures proposed by the OP to reduce deaths from alcohol:

• prohibition of any online sale of alcoholic beverages;
• reduction of sales time for drinks stronger than 15 degrees;
• increasing the minimum cost and indexing excise taxes by 5–7% above the inflation rate.
• a ban on the sale of alcoholic beverages with an ethanol content of more than 15% in store departments that are not isolated from other departments and do not have a separate entrance from the street;
• introduction of a state monopoly on the sale of strong alcoholic beverages above 15 revolutions, starting with the regions of the Far East and the Far North.

In April, President Vladimir Putin signed a law on imprisonment for up to ten years for illegal trafficking of methanol under the guise of alcoholic beverages. Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko proposed imposing an excise tax on all ethyl alcohol produced in Russia. Government promised consider this initiative.
