The Prosecutor General’s Office, with the participation of Rospotrebnadzor and the Bank of Russia, is conducting an inspection of Wildberries due to the introduction of commissions by the marketplace for paying for goods with Visa and Mastercard cards. It also checks whether customers are charged fees for returning goods.
“Particular attention will be paid to the validity of the actions of the specified trading platform, respect for consumer rights, and prevention of the use of illegal schemes in order to extract excess commercial income,” said press service Prosecutor General’s Office.
Wildberries announced the introduction of a commission of 3% of the purchase price for paying for goods with Visa and Mastercard cards today, October 12. The introduction of the commission was explained by the fact that the platform cannot directly process transactions on Visa and MasterCard cards, which were issued in Russia.
