June gold futures price on the stock exchange Comex (a division of the New York Mercantile Exchange) as of 8:22 Moscow time increased by 1.86%, to $2,280.05 per troy ounce. Prior to this, at auction it reached $2,286.35, updating the historical record.
“The lack of any surprises in the core PCE price index data provided additional impetus for gold prices to rise to new record levels,” reported Reuters market analyst Yeap Jun Rong.
In March, gold increased in price by 8.9%, and in the first quarter of 2024, the price rose by 8%. The exchange price of the precious metal broke the previous record on March 21, when the April futures price exceeded $2,153 per troy ounce.
