The Russian media group (RMG, which also owns the radio stations Russian Radio, Monte Carlo and Maximum, as well as the RU.TV channel) plans to create a separate digital station with Asian music. Managing Director of the holding Dmitry Mednikov told RBC on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), which is going to make money with minimal investment.

“This is one of the ways to gradually increase income with the ability to further increase offline activity: hold festivals, form a cultural and commercial market and create advertising space,” explains Dmitry Melnikov.

The name of the new Internet radio has not yet been determined. It will launch in the next few weeks.

Mr. Mednikov said that within five years he plans to receive “hundreds of millions” from an investment of several million, not only from auditions, but also by attracting advertisers.

The head of RMG also said that the choice of a digital platform is explained by the fact that it is the digital space that demonstrates an increase in the audience. At the moment, the company has more than 1 billion plays on the Internet, RBC reports.

This is not the first time the media group has worked with music from other regions. In July, the company launched a radio station featuring African music. This event was dedicated to Russia-Africa forum (negotiations with the participation of representatives of delegations of African countries and Russia, as well as Russian President Vladimir Putin, held on July 27 and 28, 2023 in St. Petersburg.).

As Kommersant wrote earlier, Asian music is becoming increasingly popular in Russia.
